I miss Lindow

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-30 - 07:48:07

Last night I got to thinking about some of the blog friends I've developed half way around the world while I was tending to a sick ewe. This ewe did not want to be within 15 feet of me and was a real pain in the ass to catch. As I was trimming her feet and giving her a shot, she just kept fighting :##. All I could think about was how Lindow (the Scottish farmer, if I remember right U-() would understand and offer tips on how to be more successful . It was always nice to have a knowledge base from someone who has been there.

Does anyone else ever think of past bloggers?

Comp. Upgrade

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-30 - 07:07:15

I got a nice computer upgrade today. After complaining about how slow my computer was running after installing AutoCad 2009 and RSLogix software the IT gods graced me with 2 GIG of DDR2-800 ram. Having never taken that steep a jump before with ram I was completely blown away at the response time.

So I am very happy now.

I am Very Sore!

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-28 - 10:36:37

This weekend was very eventful. I decided on Friday that I would go visit my grandma who live about 2hrs away on Saturday. When I called and told her I coming down she said great, you can help the boys fix the fence the cattle stampeded through last week. I thought, sure, no problem, ya it's gonna be hot but it shouldn't last that more than half the day.

 I was so freaking wrong.

The part of the fence the cattle broke through on was in the corral area which has old barbed wire, hedge post and metal panels. They tore up so much of it that we had to replace the whole line. Granted it's not that long of a fence line but we:
a) Had to cut new hedge post to replace the rotten and broken ones and remove them.
b) Remove the old panels and wire. Some panels buried in 6 in. of dirt and grass (not easy).
C) Had to dig new holes for larger newer post that could no go back in the same location as the old post.
D) I had to do all of this in 98°F HEAT with no effing breeze!

The worst part of it all is that we couldn't even get the fence line done.

There are parts of my body that are sore that I didn't even know could be sore. I feel like I'm walking around like the old horror movie zombies.

Oh well that's life. At least I had cold beer for the end of the day when all I could move was my drinking arm.

F*&% Me

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-24 - 11:10:49

Well, it's finally arrived. Our company is now using a OpenDNS blocker to filter the sites we can get to on the web at work.

This could have easily been prevented if some A-hole down stairs wasn't looking at porn when the CEO walked by. It's not like he hasn't been warned, some people just have to push it. F%^ker!

One Hour to Go

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-18 - 12:36:04

Got one more hour left and I'm headed home for the weekend.

Going out to eat and then to a free movie tonight at an outdoor theater. Followed by a little strolling down downtown Kansas City.

Tomorrow, need to clean up around the house and then I'm headed to the lake for a while. Yes, this time I will put on sunscreen. Later, off to the pub to watch the UFC fight and get some grub.

Sunday, hell I don't even know what I'm gonna do.

Checks

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-15 - 13:41:12

Had to go the grocery store over lunch to get things for dinner and lunch tomorrow. I left my debit card at home and all I had was my checkbook.

Got my stuff.

Went to the checkout line and when I went to pay I got the strangest look.

The cashier had never taken a check in the supposedly 2 years she has been working there and didn't know how.

She had to call over 2 managers, check my ID twice, give another form of Identification for a $5 check.

The manager had enough nerve to say to me "Well Sir, if you would use plastic like everyone else then..." I stopped her mid-sentence and looked her square in the eye and told her I'm not every F#$king one else. I'm me and just walked on out the store.

Happy Birthday Jenniebaby

It's Jenniebabys birthday.

Let her be blessed with gift cards from IKEA and online chocolate stores.

Live it up, it's your day.

Spent Saturday no a boat out on the lake. Had a great time.

Put on sunblock, so I thought.

Turns out to be tanning accelerator. 88|

Fell like a Lobster, coated in butter and thrown in a frying pan. :**:

Can barely move without it hurting.

Another Busy Weekend

by smitty1247 @ 2008-07-03 - 08:05:20

As most of you know (or should know) tomorrow is the 4th of July. Big holiday in the U.S., so we are celebrating big.

Tomorrow night I'm going over to a friends house where they are have a huge party. Lots of fireworks, food and alcohol. It's going to be relatively warm so there's going to be lots of outdoor water games. This can be extremely fun when your half drunk and feeling very little pain. Plus as a bonus, almost everything is funnier, even when it's not.

On Saturday, time to spend the day out on the lake fishing, swimming, drinking beer and eating BBQ. After that, we're all heading over to T's house to play cards.

Sunday, is time to clean up the house and get my to-do list done. I did manage to fix the attic window already, so that's scratched. I've still got a long list of things that need to be done.
