My Night Out

by smitty1247 @ 2007-12-11 - 13:14:04

Last Saturday I braved the ice and frigid weather to attend a concert about 30 miles away. I didn't pre-order tickets simply because I knew there would be some at the box office. Well I was wrong. So standing there like an idiot I decided I would visit the pub next door and have a few pints while I waited for the doors to open and the ticket scalpers to show up. I was not disappointed, in fact I was lucky. Wearing a KSU ball cap a couple guys from KSU asked if I need a ticket and told me they wanted twenty dollars for it, they wanted to make sure a person from the right university got in. By this time, several other people looking for tickets where all standing around me and they where reaching for the same ticket. Luckily I already had the twenty out, grabbed the ticket and went inside. The other guys were cussing me and I had to laugh telling them "good luck."

So anyway, I made it in in time to see the opening act Back Porch Mary. While they are still a little raw, musically, they freakin rocked the house though. They are a great Texas alternative country band. After their show I went and had a few beers with the band and bought a couple of CD's. I have been rockin to their music all week. Turns out they all went to KSU as well.

About an hour later Cross Canadian Ragweed got on stage and played for ~2.5 hours. I've followed these guys for years and their sound keeps getting better and better. About halfway through their show they sang "Boy's from Oklahoma." Since most of you are not familiar with them, it's all about rollin and smokin joints. On the last verse a couple people up from lit their bongs and it turned into a puff puff pass with the band. The ironic thing is that bouncers threw out a women for smoking a cig, but apparently a bong hit is just fine. Finally they ended their show and were planning on sticking around for awhile after to drink some beer with the fans. I wanted to stay, but the weather was bad and using my better judgment I called it a night.

I haven't done this in years and it was exactly what I needed.

Yep, I need this weekend. Got things to do like teach my aunt how to use a shotgun, clean up the yard and give the dogs some exercise.

As you can guess I'm at work, it's just about time for lunch and the sun is shining.

Destruction

by smitty1247 @ 2007-10-19 - 07:30:45

Why is it we feel so good after tearing stuff apart (physical things people). It's like an instant stress relief for me. I guess in my case it is the calm before the storm. In a few weeks I have to put it all back together again. :**:

At least I get some relaxation before the real stress kicks in.

This made me laugh

by smitty1247 @ 2007-10-09 - 07:20:23

A general store owner hired a young woman who liked to wear very short skirts and thong-panties. One day, a young man entered the store, glanced at the clerk, and glanced at the loaves of bread behind the counter. Noticing the length of her skirt (or general lack thereof) and the location of the raisin bread, he had a brilliant idea. He said, "I'd like some raisin bread, please
She nodded and climbed up a ladder to reach it, where it was located on the very top shelf He was standing almost directly beneath her, and was provided with an excellent view, just as he surmised he would be. Once she descended the ladder, he mused that he really should get 2 loaves as he was having company for dinner. As she retrieved the second loaf of bread, one of the other male customers in the store noticed what was going on. Thinking quickly, he requested his own loaf of raisin bread so he could continue to enjoy the view. With each trip up the ladder, the young lady seemed to catch the eye of another male customer. Pretty soon, each male customer was asking for raisin bread. After many trips, she was tired, irritated and thinking she was really going to have to try this bread for herself. Finally, once again atop the ladder, she stopped and fumed, glaring at the men standing below. She noticed an elderly man standing amongst the crowd staring up at her. Thinking to save herself a trip, she yelled at the old man, "Is yours raisin, too?"
He croaked,"No, but it's startin' to quiver".

Is this worth $6.1M

by smitty1247 @ 2007-10-05 - 15:14:07

A women sues McDonalds food chain (former employer) because a manager and a prank caller had her do sexual acts all of which she simply had to say NO.  Lets see.. give oral sex and be sodimized or lose my job... what's it going to be mydear.

I blame the manager for going along with it and she should be tried and put in jail, but how in the world is McDonalds corporation responsible for this.  So anyway a jury of her peers awarded her $6.1M instead of the 200M she asked for.  F ing idiots!

Had to get this out... can't stand one stupid person let alone 12 in the same room.  I hope McD's gets this one turned around.

Demonstrative

by smitty1247 @ 2007-10-01 - 16:10:10

Had a discussion with a friend of mine last week who had a yearly review with their boss. The boss completely forms a sentence around the word demonstrative. Who in their right minds concocts a sentence around the word demonstrative. Some people are weird.

Just so you know... Webster dictionary: to openly express feelings.

For making such fine liquor as...

macallanglenlivet

I started off finishing the 1/3 I had left of the MacAllan, then started on the Glenlivet.  By the end of the night... 10:00 I was feeling no pain (or my legs... which might explain why I hit the floor) by the time I went to bed.  Oh by the way... the only way to drink Scotch is straight.

Sometimes you just need to let loose.

Emotional Affairs

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-24 - 15:31:40

I was listening to the radio on the way to work when the DJ was talking about having an emotional affair and would you leave your significant other for the emotional affair. At first I thought this was utterly ridiculous until real people were calling in agreeing with it  . How could someone leave their significant other because of an emotional affair... no hugging, kissing, sex, or romantic weekends. When I say significant other I mean long term relationships (3+ years) or marriage. I understand how emotions play in a relationship and they can be both positive and negative, but at some point in time things have to become physical, the parties involved have to admit that yes we need to be together.

I personally believe that it would need to be a physical and emotional relationship and you had better be damn sure that your making the right decision. Yes, I'm coming down hard on this due to my recent martial problems because I feel that marriages/long-term-relationships are based on the spiritual, physical and emotional involvement in another person and all three need to be there for a healthy relationship. Just leaving, hoping that the other two sides of the relationship will come together is foolish and ignorant. It may work out, it may not, but as it stands you only have a 33% chance of success vs. the 50% (because for the most part that's what your going to lose) you have in your current relationship.

Love is by far the strongest emotion and/ or feeling that a person can have and I am by no means dismissing that. But can that be all that the relationship is based on. Like I said, I am talking about leaving your partner solely on the emotional involvement that you have with someone else.

Yes this is high debatable but inquiring minds want to know.

So blogland what do you think. Would you leave your loved one for another based solely on your emotional attachment to the other person.

Sam

P.S. I'm not here to judge... I just want to know how other feel about this.

What is wrong With ME

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-19 - 14:10:32

I was looking at my previous post and I realized that I am getting stressed out. Blogland... I DO NOT GET STRESSED OUT:##!

Anyway after reading all of these I just took a deep breath, had some coffee and decided that it is just another day and I need to relax. Then wall-ah I started to feel better. This evening I am going to go home, do chores and work the dogs for a while to help clear my head, then have a small glass of scotch and go to bed after calling my wife and telling her goodnight. Sounds like a plan.

Cheers,

Sam

But oh no, it is truly the day when you realize you have so much work to do by Friday :## that it is a mad dash to the weekend. If it was not for a remolding of my test lab I doubt I would be this busy, but you never know. I barely have time to blog... ug :'(

Ready for the Weekend

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-14 - 09:42:27

I need this break. I've got to get my car worked on, need to get new mobiles for the wife and I just need to relax. Next week I'm going to start on several big projects so I've got to get my head screwed on right.

Management

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-13 - 11:00:13

I have been working in the test lab today and I just sat back down at my desk when the engineering manager comes up to me and says he is ready to review drawings and revisions to a liquid pump system. I politely ask for a few minutes and he gets irate. I tell him I'm on break and to come back in 15. Good thing he is not my manager, because my manager did show up to and told him to come back in 15 as well . G, my manager told me to use more tack with him, but understood when he say my face cover in dust. This week is taking to long.... hurry up 4:00 Friday, darn it.

She's Going Home

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-08 - 08:55:38

Good news everyone, Kathy is finally able to go home from the hospital today (Saturday):DD. It has been 2 weeks since she has seen true daylight. Her parents have got things set up for her at their house, where she will stay because she can not be alone. I am relieved. Home health will come by once or twice a week to check on her incision. It will be nice to get to sleep in the same bed as well.

THANK GOD IT'S FFFRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAAYYYY

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-07 - 07:25:34

If you have been keeping up with my post, you undoubtegly know about what is going on in my life.  It has been darn near unbearable to work take care of the farm and take care of Kathy.  Believe me it is not because I don't like to do it, but by the end of the day I am exhuasted.  So Friday is here and now I can devote my time to Kathy and doing pidley stuff.    Doctors say that Kathy might be able to go home on Monday, maybe Tuesday.  I am incredibly proud of Kathy for the progress she has made and how strong she has been.  It will be nice to have her home.

Awnry Damn Cows

by smitty1247 @ 2007-09-02 - 21:23:20

I have commercial Angus/ Shorthorn/ Semintal cattle that are human and bucket broke.  I was walking out in the pasture to feed before I went to the hospital to stay with Kathy and before I got the gate shut and turned around 3 of my yearling heifers had me surrounded and wanted that bucket.  As soon as I was trying to scare them away (which did not work), it stirred up the interest of our other cattle and they came a-runnin.  I can't open the gate now so I start swearing at them (more for my benefit) and that does nothing.  So I yell for Casey (my border collie), she comes running and bites the heifer still trying to get in the bucket squarely on the nose.  I flank her around and drive the cows off and clear me a path to the bunk.  Point of the story.... don't go to work without all of your tools.

Long Weekend Ahead

by smitty1247 @ 2007-08-31 - 13:19:05

I don't work on Monday and Kathy is not out of the hospital yet, so another weekend of laying on a hard pull-out bed.  I have got to write down what chores need to be done for my neighbor as he said he would look over things while I was with Kathy.  It's good to have friends that are willing to help out when you need it most.

On a different note these games below have occupied my free time at work and they are driving me mad.

What a Week so far

by smitty1247 @ 2007-08-30 - 08:19:15

Kathy is walking again with the help of a walker and brace .  Her stay in the hospital has allowed us the time needed to work out our issues.  It's not easy for either of us, but if you want the marriage to work you have to work at it.  It is going to be difficult and she will be in rehab for awhile then move to her parents during the week and come home to me on the weekends.  I'll post when I can.

The worst week of my Life

by smitty1247 @ 2007-08-27 - 10:40:40

Have you ever had one of those weeks when it rains it pours and everything comes crashing down. Well that is where I am at.

Monday 20/8/07: From my previous post I talked about guys and girls being friends. I still think we can, however, my wife doesn't and she went through the roof and left. So we separated that night.  I called our preacher and asked for marriage counciling so I can at least talk to my wife.

Tuesday 21/8/07: That night we meet with our preacher, talk things out, she comes home and I sleep on a different bed.  At least she is home and safe.

Wendensday 22/8/07: Same thing as Tuesday night.

Thursday 23/08/07: After a good counciling session on Wed. we talk a little bit more that mourning before she goes to work.  On her way to work she has a car accident and has a spine injury.  At the hospital, they confirm the injury that she has one broken vertibrea that needs to be fixed.  She has a few more x-rays that evening and is scheduled for surgery on Friday.

Friday 24/08/07: She has a 3-hour surgery and everything goes well.  The surgeon comes out and says everythings fine, the fracture is more severe than the X-ray showed.  She will be in the hospital for a week, off work for 2-3 months while in rehab learning to walk again.

So as I said before, when it rains it pours.  I am so grateful she is safe and alive.  Things could have been so much worse.  I have always told her I love her and only her, and actions speak louder than words.  It is going to be a long road to recovery and require a lot out of both of us to make it work.

Can guys and girls really be friends

by smitty1247 @ 2007-08-20 - 15:59:59

Quick question. Can guys and girls really be good friends? I would like to think that they could, but if they get that close why would they want to be with someone else and not that person.

OK, I will explain the reasoning behind the question. My major hobby besides music is working sheep/cattle dogs. I train with a female who is roughly the same age and has many of the same interest that I do. We are both married, she has a kid, I have a loving/jealous wife, she has a non-caring husband (at least when it comes to her hobbies). Anyway this relationship I have with the other lady is very friendly and we talk openly about our lives to each other. Well this obviously is freaking my wife out, whom I love and want to stay with, however none the less she is freaking out. I enjoy the company of my friend b/c it is nice to have someone else to talk to that shares your interest. I would be lying if I said she wasn't attractive and very outgoing and we can talk for hours about our interest (mainly dogs and other handlers). Getting back to the point, my wife thinks that men and women can never be "just friends". So I want to know.... can we?
